Shortened Version – Introduction and principles

Introduction to Fairer Principles for a Fairer Society

The World is in a Mess; Children are caught-up in it.

To say “The World is a Mess” is gross understatement. We are living in a world full of various forms of abuse of Freedom, Liberty, Power, and Privileges at all levels of Society. Abuses committed by people and Establishments ‘at-the-top’ have percolated down to the bottom of the pyramid! This has created ever increasing vicious cycle. There is unscrupulous exploitation of the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Our “Free Societies” are divided by religions, BAME ( Black Asian Minority Ethnic ), gross socio-economic disparity, selfishness, greed for money and power etc.

There is obscene drive for economic and military superiority. In ancient times we only had hand fists, knives and arrows to fight; today we have fire arms and mass-destructive weapons. Wars are being fought all over the world causing severe hardship and misery to millions of ordinary people, while the leaders who waged the wars continue to live in luxury. Humanity is in line for self-destruction.

Even behind closed doors of very many respectablefamilies, there are individuals (children and adults) suffering several forms of abuse – discrimination, humiliation, insults, violence etc. This is leading to serious consequences for health, welfare, and attainments of all sorts, to individuals and whole family. There are suicides and murders.

If we, particularly the Influential, Privileged and the Powerful, genuinely care to clear up this mess and create Healthier, Happier, Peaceful and Secure Societies, we need to re-think, re-examine, and revise many of our age-old dubious beliefs, habits and customs that have led us into the current mess. We should graciously accept science-based FAIRER PRINCIPLES for a FAIRER SOCIETY (FPFFS) worthy of our current level of intelligence. We must make better use of our intelligence for the good of humanity.

In order to make sense out of these FPFFS, preliminary consideration of some science-based indisputable facts (SBIF) would be necessary and helpful. They are:

1. All of us without exception, at whatever stage of life we are in, are the product of our (a) genes and (b) environmental factors we are / have been exposed to.

Overall, our genes cannot be changed; but our environments can be modified. There are many ‘good’ and ‘bad’ aspects in some of our genes; many of them can be influenced (encouraged or discouraged) by appropriate environmental factors.

2. Babies are born with a mind; they can think, and make some assessment of their environment, almost from the day they are born. Their mental growth is very rapid in their earlier months and years of life.

3. (a) If children are exposed to, and subjected to, numerous forms of abuses of Basic Human Values (BHV), they are liable to grow up and commit same or similar abuses during childhood, adolescence, and adult life. Vicious cycle develops.

(b) Betrayal of children – of their RIGHTS and NEEDS – will come back to haunt us for the rest of our lives, and future generations.

4. PAST created the PRESENT; PRESENT will shape the FUTURE.

5. When Fundamentals are flawed, everything goes wrong.

6. When the foundation is weak and unstable supra-structure is liable to crack and crumble. Children are the foundation of adult society.

7. Prevention is always better than cure.

For Children

Five Universal Basic Principles

For Adults

Similar Principles Applicable to Adults

1. They have the RIGHT to be accepted for what they basically are as human beings in respect of their: (a) sex, (b) position in the family, (c) physical energy, (d) mental energy, (e) physical and mental capabilities, (f) physiological variations of things such as appetite and sleep, (g) personality – extravert, placid etc.  1. Adults are in Need of acceptance for what they are, by fellow human beings and appropriate ‘powerful’ Authorities.
2. They have the RIGHT for, and are in NEED of freedom throughout childhood, starting from the first days and weeks of their lives, to live within their limits of physical, physiological and mental capabilities and retain their individuality and personality.  2. Adults are in Need of, and should have the Right for freedom and independence, to exercise and enjoy their skills.
3. Having been given the freedom, they are in NEED of appropriate control, meaningful guidance and discipline, throughout childhood if they abuse their freedom, even from the early days of their lives.  3. Adults are in Need of discipline for their own sake, as well as for the rest of the society. They should be appropriately disciplined if they abuse their freedom, power, and privileges.
4. They NEED to live in an emotionally pleasant and reliable domestic environment, where both parents are truly helpful to them and set a good example on various aspects of life that constitute civilized and responsible attitudes.  4. Adults are in Need of peaceful, reliable and secure environments to live in. They are in Need of good example set by people ‘at-the-top’ and all relevant Institutions.
5. They NEED schools where teachers understand the basic RIGHTS and NEEDS of children and are able to set a good example in Basic Human Values, in addition to teaching academic subjects suitable to them. The schools should in some ways, be an extension of their homes. They should be educated for Life skills and necessities, not just for a qualification for jobs. In secondary schools, children of 11 and over should be taught these FPFFS and all teenagers should be given a free copy of this book and encouraged to read, discuss and debate the issues covered in it, in their homes and outside; because, this is about their Present and their Future. Basic ‘skills for life’ such as hygiene, cleanliness, nutrition, cooking, accounting, etc, should be taught to every child.  5. Adults too are in Need of Education – further education – on various skills for their own betterment and for societies’ needs. Even more importantly, adults too, should be frequently reminded, or taught, on what constitutes responsible behaviour in everyday life on matters such as civic responsibilities, cleanliness and hygiene in their own homes and in public places, through various means – literature, press, radio, TV etc. Adults throughout society should be fully made aware of children’s Rights and Needs and what they mean in practice. After all, many of our wrong attitudes are not our own making; they were thrust into our minds almost from the day we were born by ‘well-meaning’ ‘loving’ adults. We need to break this vicious cycle through all reasonable means available.

All these science-based and conscience-based Principles − guide lines − are inter-related according to circumstances. Hundreds of life processes / problems, can / should be matched against these principles in order to produce sensible/satisfactory outcomes; and for prevention and early resolution of troublesome problems.

The book , Fairer Principles for a Fairer Society (www.jaysfpffs.com) should be read fully in order to get a clearer understanding of the rationale behind these Principles, in order to get some insight into what they mean in practice, and to get a foretaste of benefits achievable.

The case histories in the book, and the section on Screaming Babies in particular, should be an eye opener for recognizing our past misconception and blunders; and to move forward urgently, to create happy, peaceful, and secure societies, throughout the world.

Most significantly, my 100 percent certainty of curing the constant crying and screaming of babies, (for the first time in the history of Medicine) within a few days, (within 24 hours in some case) by advising parents appropriately, on the Rights and Needs of babies as thinking Human beings, thus bringing peace and happiness to affected babies and their stressed out parents, should be the PROTOTYPE microcosm – for achieving far greater goals for human welfare, peace and security through the application of SBIF and the FPFFS in all aspects of Life. It is immoral and cruel to ignore this evidence.

Sadly, this evidence is being ignored.

Currently, we are immersed in piece-meal, symptom-treating, patching-over-cracks, and short-sighted approach to hundreds of problems arising from abuse of Basic Human Values from the day we are born. There is a lot of impressive rhetoric; little in meaningful deeds!!

Arbitrary rules and regulations, and cosmetic approach to hundreds of deep-rooted problems, is driving humanity to self-destruction.

Alas, our incredibly unimaginative approach to Medical Training, paying little or no attention to the importance of the emotional Rights and Needs of children, is resulting in the Child Healthcare Medical Professionals becoming, in effect, practitioners of half baked semi-scientific rituals, short of vision, imagination, common-sense, and conscience. These professionals are unwittingly betraying children and society! These doctors have not been able to appreciate sufficiently, that they have a moral responsibility to children far beyond their childhood

HABITS DIE HARD!

But, with sufficient in-sight into the above-mentioned basic FACTS and the PRINCIPLES, and promoting them with enthusiasm, humility, generosity, and courage by people and institutions in positions of power and influence, it should be possible to eradicate the intense misery and insecurity prevailing throughout the world, in the course of just a few decades

A start has to be made earnestly and urgently in order to achieve this goal and arrest the reckless damage we are currently causing to ourselves, our children, grand-children, and our planet.

Do the humans in positions of power and influence have the humility and courage to change course based on FPFFS?
